Dead on arrival.

Dead on arrival is an interactive comic, it is set out like a book you can click on the side of the page to turn the page or click and drag it by hand. This is one reason why this story is interactive.

A way of going to the next chapter of the story is to find a clue within the last page of the chapter. This gives you hits to who is behind the poisoning.

With this particulate story you can chose what part of the story you wish to investigate next by choosing one of the characters in the story to accuse, to find out if they are responsible for poisoning the main character. Bye choosing the Wife you cut the story short as she is the culprit.

This Comic has Music playing in the background, to get the full effect of this I read through the story without and then with the music.
I did this to Determine if the music does the story justice and gives the right Atmosphere.

This interactive story has background noise playing, witch sets the tone of the story.

There is a lot of interaction in this story such as hover overs for example when you hover your mouse over the man this face becomes distorted.

In this screen shot I selected a button and that enlarged the size of the wale and the text.

Hovering over the ant makes it flash blue, but when you click it doesn't do anything.
To carry on the story or see the next peace of text you have to click on the buttons with the moving arrows.
When you hover over the thought bubble, it makes a lint to the other thought bubble
I found the story pretty hard to follow and I didn't quite understand some of the time.

Narratives

Game - Devil May Cry

The Story line -
Devil May Cry follows the hero Dante, a half-human, half demon who must protect the world. He is the son of the legendary Sparda, who fought against the evil forces years earlier. Dante own a privet investigator shop that looks into supernatural investigations, he is seeking revenge for his dead mother and brother. Dante discovers the evil conspiracy goes back thousands of years. Dante fights through the rising hell and what seems like never ending darkness with his twin guns ebony and ivory and his father’s sword to find out how far he can go.

Act one setting the scene and the task ahead –
The game starts with a intro explaining the background behind the story (of the legendary dark knight Sparda) a dark figure swinging a sword around as a narrator tells the story and text scrolls up the screen.

The intro goes into a cinematic of a shop called Devil May Cry, this is a shop ran by Dante privet investigator for the supernatural. A woman named Trish bursts through the door on a motorbike uninvited, this at the time unknown character seems to know a lot about Dante and his past. This woman doesn't seem friendly. Dante amuses this woman is something form the demon world as she knows to much about his past to be a human he then hints that he’s taking revenge for his dead mother and brother by killing each “one” that turns up at his door and that eventually he will end up killing the one responsible. They then begin to fight.

With a sword through his stomach and being electrocuted with demonic powers this is when you realise that Dante isn’t human ether, still impaled he pulls out his guns and shoots the motorbike being through at him. When Trish relises that she can not defeat him and that he's not just any human, she tell Dante who she is and why she is here. Trish came looking for help with a demonic problem  and explains she attacked him to make sure he had found the right man, that she also wants to stop the underworld this is where the story begins.
Trish explains the situation going on and then the game play starts at a castle in a remote place on a excluded island.

This clip sets the tone of the game and explains the background of the story within about 6mins and starts off the task ahead fighting though the castle Dante is now tapped in.

Act 2 - the game play and missions

Throughout the game Dante must fight the enemy’s in his path such as Marionettes (blood puppets)

Dante must also fight through the bosses encountered in this game such Kyklop, you must work your way through the games with a series of tasks such as killing an amount of enemies, serving waves of enemies and working your way through the complex castle as you go through these stages more of the story line is discovered lead to the ending of the game.

 Act 3 - The ending

The ending of this game is were Dante meets the final boss only to realise Trish (the typical damsel in distress) has been captured by the boss Mundus he underestimates Dante by impaling him with 3 crystal sticks, Trish struggles free and jumps in the way to save Dante from a fatal blow. Dante begins to glow becoming empowered by his demonic blood and the stature that has been talking to Dante reviles himself in his true form.  At this point it is assumed that Trish is dead  Dante transforms into a demon and there is a massive finishing battle, this is the revenge that Dante has wanted though out the game to kill the demon who slaughtered his remaining family and to kill him for killing Trish, after the last battle, Dante returned to Trish to say his goodbyes and guilt for her death and how he should have been the one to fill her dark sole with light, he explains that his mother also died protected Dante and how he feels he should have been protecting her, tear drops fall from his face onto her cheek and places a necklace that was once his mothers on her chest and lays his father’s sword  behind her. He then goes to leave when OH NO! The boss wasn’t defeated he’s still alive he then must fight him again but….. But as if by magic Trish comes to the rescue, she gives Dante her powers to finish off the boss once and for all. The castle starts to fall to pieces as does the island, Dante and Trish fall in love and they leave in a very continent plane found in the castle.
